IFP: Birds of a feather flock together at Zululand district municipality

The Qualified Audit received by the Zululand District Municipality for 2012/2013 comes as no surprise to the IFP in KwaZulu-Natal, who has been raising red flags about the goings on in that district whilst still under the mayorship of Zanele kaMagwaza-Msibi.

“The announcement of a qualified audit for Zululand District Municipality by Finance MEC, Belinda Scott does not surprise us as we have been raising many concerns relating to maladministration, corruption and irregular expenditure in that district. Our concerns were not taken seriously as the ANC wanted to create the false impression that the NFP, which is a project of the ANC, led by Zanele kaMagwaza-Msibi is doing a good job. President Zuma in his State of the Nation Address in June this year praised the Zululand District for sound management and infrastructure development but he ignored the rot that was festering below the surface only to be exposed now,” said IFP Leader in the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature, Mr Blessed Gwala MP.

“The financial mismanagement and maladministration is affecting the lives of the people of Zululand who are crying out for basic services. Funds are made available to provide such services but it is squandered while our people suffer. Since birds of a feather flock together, Mrs kaMagwaza-Msibi was rewarded by the ANC with a Deputy Minister’s position thus enabling her to run away from the mess she created while she was the mayor,” said Mr Blessed Gwala.

“The people of Zululand are intelligent and are able to see through the shenanigans in that district and they will make the NFP pay in the local government elections in 2016,” concluded Mr Gwala.
