Gauteng Premier David Makhura wishes Muslim community in Gauteng and across South Africa a blessed Eid al-Fitr. Eid al-Fitr, mark the end of Ramadan during which believers abstain from eating and drinking during daylight hours.

“As the month-long fast of Ramadan draws to an end and our Muslim residents await joyously for this day of Eid, on behalf of the provincial government and the people of Gauteng, I would like to wish all Muslims Eid Mubarak.

Muslims celebrate the Eid-al-Fitr religious holiday with prayers as they mark the end of Islam's Holy Month of Ramadan.  It is also a day of prayer and an expression of gratitude‎ to the Almighty for all His blessings and bounties bestowed during the month of Ramadan.
