Gauteng: MEC Mazibuko mourns the passing of Banele Sindane

Gauteng MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Ms Faith Mazibuko has extended her heartfelt condolences to family and loved ones of Mr Banele Sindane. The fervent athletics administrator is reported to have been killed on Monday, during a robbery at his Johannesburg home.


“It is extremely sad to lose anyone in such a tragic way especially those who’ve dedicated themselves in the building of this country. Banele Sindani did a lot for South African athletics, more notably in transforming the Soweto Marathon. Through his hardworking, Soweto marathon became a gigantic event across the globe attracting various athletes from different parts of the world”.

“The sporting industry has lost a talented and hardworking sport administrator who will definitely be missed. On behalf of the entire Gauteng City Region and its people we’d like to express our sincerest sympathies to the family and all loved ones. May his soul rest in peace”, says MEC Mazibuko.
