Fixing minimum wages in India – skirting real issues (Dec 2015)

Sharit Bhowmik focuses on minimum wages in India. He points on the challenges that labour is confronted with in the implementation of minimum wages.

Though India has minimum wage legislation, the act does not specify how the minimum wage should be calculated or how it should be constituted. Sharit emphasises the need for an effective trade union movement for the successful enforcement of minimum wages.
