MEC of Infrastructure Development and Property Management Ms Tasneem Motara met with her counterpart in the Department of Health, Dr Bandile Masuku in the wake of a fire that broke out earlier today. Preliminary findings suggest that a compressor exploded, damaging parts of the site and resulting in the immediate evacuation of the site. Emergency Services were called and managed to contain the fire. There were no casualties, and all workers have been accounted for. A case has been opened with the Mohlakeng Police Station for a forensic investigation. Until then the site will remain cordoned off.
