FF+: Statement by Wouter Wessels, Freedom Front Plus National Youth Leader,

25th July 2013

The Freedom Front Plus Youth welcomes the suspension of the National Youth Development Agency’s (NYDA) Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Steven Ngubeni. It is however unacceptable that Mr. Kenny Morolong, the ANC’s spokesperson in Northwest, has been appointed as acting CEO.

The FF Plus Youth insists that the reasons for the suspension of Mr. Ngubeni are revealed. Ngubeni was suspended yesterday, pending a disciplinary hearing.

“There have already been various allegations of irregularities with regard to Mr. Ngubeni in the past three years and it is high time that an investigation is launched. The NYDA has since its inception not been functional and controversial with millions of rand which were spent, on amongst other things, festivals,” Wouter Wessels, the national youth leader of the FF Plus said.

It is unacceptable that a public institution which receives millions of rand of taxpayer’s money is not accountable to the public.

Wessels added that the FF Plus had already laid several complaints against the NYDA and also insisted in writing that Mr. Ngubeni be fired. It is time that the irregularities which exist at the NYDA, are dispelled.
