FEDUSA: FEDUSA supports 16 days of activism

The Federations of Unions of South Africa (FEDUSA) supports and joins hands with the Government and all South Africans in commemorating the 16 days of Activism with the theme “Count me in, together Moving a Non-Violent South Africa Forward, said Dorothy Ndhlovu Vice President Gender and Social Justice.

FEDUSA’s 1st National Gender Conference that was held 15 to 16 November 2016 decided that the campaign should not be limited to 16 days but be should be expanded to 365 days of No Violence against Women and Children. Moreover, #365DaysNoViolence should be our focus to protect our and children against violence and abuse argued Ndhlovu.

“Globally, one in three women has experienced physical or sexual violence at some point in their life.  Every year, during this period we are reminded of the violence women and girls face across the world on International day for elimination of violence against women, which is also the beginning of the 16 Days of activism against Gender Based Violence, it is along this lines that the Social Justice Committee has adopted Ikhaya Le Themba, Shelter for Abused women and children,” said Ndlovu.

“FEDUSA supports and recognizes the centrality of promoting gender equality in the workplace, as it has positive impact on productivity. Moreover, gender equality advances the rights of women pursue both their material well-being and their spiritual development in conditions of freedom and dignity”.
