ETHEKWINI MUNICIPALITY BEEFS UP SECURITY AND RADICALLY IMPROVES CLEANILINESS AT ITS BEACHES

The eThekwini Municipality and the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (Edtea) will tomorrow, 13, 2018, unveil a raft of interventions aimed at ensuring that Durban beaches unceasingly remain South Africa’s unrivalled tourist mecca during the festive season.

These interventions include the recruitment of more than 340 security officers, deployment of 340 Metro Police trainees, the placement of additional cleaners and the beefing up of the cleaning shifts.

Tomorrow’s activities will include a parade by the beachfront and a walkabout on the beach and the surrounding facilities.

Members of the media are cordially invited to join the EThekwini Mayor Councillor Zandile Gumede, Edtea senior officials and the tourism industry representatives as they unveil these ground-breaking interventions. The launch is scheduled as follows:
