Eskom: Eskom appoints Elsie Pule as Group Executive for Human Resources

Eskom today confirmed Ms Elsie Pule as the new Group Executive for Human Resources. Ms Pule has been acting in this position since November 2014.

Eskom Group Chief Executive Brian Molefe said the confirmation of Ms Pule will bring stability and continuity to the programmes that she had already initiated within her department.

Mr Molefe added that Ms Pule’s appointment was also in line with the company’s target of achieving 45.7% of women representation at both middle and senior management level by 2020. Currently 36% of Eskom’s professional and middle management are women and 30% are in senior management.  The target for the 2015/16 financial year is 38%.

A recent survey by Ernst & Young ranked Eskom in the sixth place in its global list of the top 20 most gender-diverse Power and Utilities Index. In addition, Ernst & Young also ranked Eskom sixth in the top 200 Power and Utilities with the most gender diverse workforces in the Africa and Middle East region.

Ms Pule joined Eskom in 1995 and has extensive experience in the field of human resources. She was until recently, Deputy President of the Institute for Personnel Management, a position she held for two years. She was also Chief Officer for Human Resources at the South African Revenue Services from March 2010 to November 2012. Ms Pule rejoined Eskom in December 2012 as Senior General Manager for Human Resources and has acted as the Group Executive for Human Resources since November 2014, a position she held until her current appointment as Group Executive for Human Resources.
