Energy, poverty and the family (September 2014)

The complex articulation between the cost of, and access to, energy; the effects of poverty; and the needs of families, especially poor families, speaks to multi-layered vulnerability. Professor Ashley van Niekerk of the University of South Africa1 addressed a recent CPLO roundtable discussion on this issue, and this Briefing Paper owes much to his presentation and to the discussion that followed.
