dti: Minister Davies commends commitment of Global Load Control to job creation amongst SA youth

Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies has commended Global Load Control’s (GLC) commitment to job creation amongst the youth of South Africa. Minister Davies was speaking after GLC, a remote global aviation services provider within the Business Process Services sector (BPS), launched its new offices in Cape Town today.

“As a department and government, we commend GLC for its commitment to contributing in creating employment for the youth of this country by opening these new premises in Cape Town. We are also impressed by the company’s training systems, cognitive learning and talent management programmes where GLC sources school and university leavers as potential GLC operators,” said Minister Davies.

The GLC training allows recruits to become qualified aviation professionals with a globally recognised certification. In the last 18 months GLC has created 70 new jobs and up-skilled 70 people into the aviation industry, with most employees falling within the 18-27 age group.

Minister Davies emphasised that this investment in specialised skills development by GLC further supported South Africa as a leading BPS destination and our efforts in moving up the value-chain.

GLC, which has been active in South African since 2004, has over 250 professionals across three continents and provides support to 60 000 flights monthly, departing from 180 airports worldwide thereby ensuring that millions of air passengers arrive at their destinations safely and punctually.

The Department of Trade and Industry (the dti), through InvestSA is providing on-going support to Global Load Control via the One Stop Shop (OSS) that provides strategic guidance, reduced regulatory inefficiencies, and red tape support for all current and future investors in South Africa.
