The Minister of Basic Education, Mrs Angie Motshekga is deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Northern Cape Education MEC, Grizelda Boniwe Cjiekella-Lecholo (45yrs), who died in hospital last night after a short illness.

"young, energetic, vibrant and an extremely capable person in Government. Very passionate and committed to her work, her sudden passing extremely shocking." Said Motshekgaas she described a hardworking comrade.

Minister Motshekga also worked very closely with the MEC in the ANC Womans League where she served as the organisations Provincial Chairperson and was nominated for the position of Deputy Secretary General of the National structure at the recent National Conference.

Cde Grizelda was undoubtedly one of the most developed and seasoned cde's of our movement. She was a popular, respected politician who was liked by everyone she met, and her bubbly infectious laughter that always filled a room with positivity will be sorely missed.

Cjiekella had a resilient passion to better the lives of our people especially, learners of the Northern Cape. She was a true patriot who deeply loved her country, her province the Northern Cape and it's people.

Minister Motshekga sends her deepest condolences to her husband and son who she leaves behind, but also to the Province of the Northern Cape as she will be missed by everyone.
