The State Information Technology Agency (SITA) has undertaken to the Portfolio Committee on Higher Education and Training that the certification backlog currently being experienced with the National Certificate (Vocational) qualifications will be eliminated by 30 June 2016.

SITA was reminded that the five-month extension requested beyond the original target date of 31 January 2016 affects the lives and employability of thousands of young South Africans and SITA was instructed to ensure that all necessary resources are mobilised to address the situation.

The Department appeals to employers and any institutions offering education and training courses to note the undertaking by SITA and should they need to verify a prospective employee’s or student’s results with regards to NC (V) Level 4 they can contact the Department on the email address ncvcare@dhet.gov.za. Similarly, NC (V) Level 4 graduates who require a letter of confirmation can also submit a request to the same email address.

The identity number of the candidate must be quoted in all requests.

The department added that other areas which had been adversely affected included the release of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college results and statements of results to TVET college candidates offering NATED programmes during the November 2015 examinations cycle.
