DHA: Home Affairs on collection of voting documents

The Department of Home Affairs is delighted by the positive response on the part of SA voters who seized the opportunity it had availed for citizens to collect their identity documents. Voters who had misplaced/lost IDs were issued with temporary identity certificates.

Enabling documents collected on 30 July - 3 August 2016 are as follows:

In all, 66 304 enabling documents for voting were collected from 30 July to 3 August 2016. ‘Thank you’ to all patriotic citizens for heeding Home Affairs’ clarion call to collect IDs. This is good citizenship and civic responsibility in action. Getting and taking care of enabling documents maximize opportunities for enjoying all other public services.

The Department of Home Affairs will continue improving services as it modernizes to meet the needs and aspirations of citizens and other clients, professionally, humanely and efficiently.

 

Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba would like to thank all officials for the sterling work they have done in this period, and for their willingness to provide services over the extended hours. The Minister is equally grateful for the support received from various stakeholders in encouraging and helping citizens to collect their enabling documents.
