Deputy Minister Pamela Tshwete to visit the Lower Thukela Bulk Water Supply Scheme in Mandeni

The Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation, Ms Pamela Tshwete will visit the Lower Thukela Water Supply Scheme to inspect this project in order to ascertain the level of its current functionality, its successes and challenges and future plans for expansion of this scheme so that more consumers are connected to a reliable and sustainable supply of safe drinking water.

Lower Thukela Bulk Water Supply Scheme is a flagship project of Umgeni Water and the Department of Water and Sanitation and it is situated in Mandeni, within iLembe District. It was constructed at a cost of R1, 4 billion, making it one of the largest bulk potable water treatment and supply infrastructure projects in KwaZulu-Natal.
