DEPUTY MINISTER MANANA TO VISIT SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN MPUMALANGA PROVINCE, TO PROMOTE THE 2016 APPLY NOW / KHETHA CAREER GUIDANCE CAMPAIGN

22nd July 2016

The Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Mr Mduduzi Manana, MP, will roll-out the 2016 Apply Now/Khetha Career Guidance Campaign by visiting two schools in Davel, in the Province of Mpumalanga, on Thursday, 28 July 2016.

The Apply Now/Khetha Career Guidance Campaign is aimed at encouraging high school learners to apply on time for admission to post-school institutions and thus avert possible stampedes and long queues that take place at the beginning of each academic year. The Career Guidance component of the campaign seeks to inform learners about career choices available within the post-school sector.

The roll-out of the campaign is targeted at far-flung and often neglected rural areas, villages and townships to ensure that learners in those areas make informed career choices.

The Deputy Minister will have a conversation with learners from Grade 09 to 12 and further promote the “100 Occupations in high demand” list released by the Minister in 2014.

Members of the media are invited to the school visits scheduled as follows:
Date: Thursday, 28 July 2016

1. Name of School: Umfundlana Secondary School (08:00 – 09:30)

2. Name of School: Kwadela Secondary School (10:00 – 11:30)
