DEPUTY MINISTER BUTI MANAMELA TO DELIVER A KEYNOTE ADDRESS AT THE 1st YOUTH VOLUNTEER NETWORK CONFERENCE

Deputy Minister in the Presidency Mr Buti Manamela will tomorrow, 30 May 2017 deliver a keynote address at the youth volunteer conference on increasing youth volunteering in Civil Society Organisations.

The conference is a partnership between the Government of Flanders and South Africa through the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA).

The aim of the partnership is to cultivate an enabling environment for youth volunteering to civil society. It is envisaged that the programme will also assist to develop the culture of volunteering in South Africa by offering youth a multiplicity of quality volunteering opportunities. Such partnerships are essential as South Africa is in the process of reformulating the National Youth Service Framework.

The cooperation on youth development between South Africa and the government of Flanders was incepted in 1996 and the continuation of the cooperation was formally agreed upon during the Joint Commission between South Africa and Flanders in November 2009 in Pretoria.

The Executive Chairperson of the NYDA board, Mr Sifiso Motsweni is also expected to address the conference.
