And, opposition parties say bunking ANC ministers are disrespecting Parliament

Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa will appear in Parliament today to answer questions in the National Assembly for the first time since the conclusion of the local elections in August.

Six questions had been set down for Ramaphosa to answer in the House, including two from DA chief whip John Steenhuisen.

Steenhuisen will ask Ramaphosa what progress has been made in setting up a co-investment fund for small businesses, as well as what assurances he will give to ensure members of the executive appear for all oral question sessions for the rest of 2016.

Western Cape ANC chairperson Marius Fransman yesterday called for party unity and an end to public fighting, for the sake of the people of the province.

Fransman said he was pleased that a controversial series of statements had at least cleared up that he was not on suspension.

This comes after a sexual harassment charge was laid by his former personal assistant Louisa Wynand who had travelled with him to Rustenburg in the North West for the ANC's birthday celebrations in January.

Opposition Members of Parliament vented their frustration in the National Assembly yesterday, saying the ongoing poor attendance record of ANC ministers was "disrespectful to the House".

IFP NEC member Narend Singh told the House that he had been informed that Minister in the Presidency Jeff Radebe would not be appearing in the National Assembly.

The House was sitting on Wednesday for a question-and-answer session for departments in the economics cluster.

UDM MP Nqabayomzi Kwankwa said the "ongoing problem" needed to be addressed.
