Ramaphosa to woo investment at G20

President Cyril Ramaphosa will today engage with heads of State and government and leaders of the global private sector as part of his participation in the G20 Compact with Africa Conference and the G20 Investment Summit.

This follows yesterday’s successful commencement of Ramaphosa’s working visit to the Federal Republic of Germany with a meeting with Chancellor Angela Merkel and a dinner hosted by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

The president will also attend the German Direct Investment in Africa meeting, under the theme “A new Era of German-African Business Relations”, which will be followed by the Conference on the G20 Compact with Africa.

 

The Democratic Alliance says De Lille will do anything to evade accountability

The DA’s deputy chairperson of federal council Natasha Mazzone says embattled Cape Town Mayor Patricia de Lille's announcement of her intention to lodge a court application to review two controversial Bowmans reports is an attempt by her to avoid accountability for governance failures in the City during her tenure.

One of the reports recommends that she be criminally investigated for maladministration by tomorrow, which is expected to be her last day as mayor.

Mazzone said De Lille was doing everything possible to confuse and mislead the public.

In August, De Lille and DA leader Mmusi Maimane announced that the party would drop the internal charges relating to the DA constitution against her, and she would resign as mayor on October 31.

 

Magashule mum on Free State, VBS and Gigaba

ANC secretary general Ace Magashule was mum yesterday on events unfolding in the Free State and on the controversy surrounding Minister Malusi Gigaba, however, he was full of promises for Midvaal residents.

Magashule paid visits to the residents of Mamello and Sicelo and held meetings in the two areas as part of the ruling party's blitz campaign in Gauteng.

Surrounded by reporters for the majority of his tour in both areas, Magashule refused to address questions on allegations around missing artworks in the Free State and claims that the province was experiencing serious financial challenges.
