High Court to hear Zuma's State of Capture report review application

The North Gauteng High Court is today expected to hear President Jacob Zuma's application to review the remedial action contained in former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela's State of Capture report.

The case has been set down for three days.

News24 previously reported that Zuma filed an application with the High Court to have Madonsela's report reviewed and set aside.

He said the former Public Protector had encroached on the role of the executive in her recommendations.

Ramaphosa leads Gauteng nominations

The ANC deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa is leading the Gauteng presidential race following this weekend's round of nominations by branches in the province even though insiders say it’s early days.

According to them, nominations are yet to meet the halfway mark, which will give a clearer indication of Ramaphosa's performance in the race.

Outcomes of branch nomination meetings in other provinces, so far, also indicate that it could be a two-horse race between Ramaphosa and former African Union Commission chairperson, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.

Former Health MEC Qedani Mahlangu expected to be subpoenaed

Former Gauteng Health MEC Qedani Mahlangu is expected to be subpoenaed to testify at an arbitration hearing, following the deaths of at least 141 former Life Esidimeni patients.

This was what a high profile source revealed yesterday.

Families of patients who died after being transferred from Life Esidimeni to the Cullinan Care and Rehabilitation Centre are demanding for Qedani testify at an arbitration hearing
