Mashaba says City of Johannesburg will fight ANC’s attempt to 'undo change'

The City of Johannesburg will defend its residents against the ANC's most recent "smokescreen for clawing their way back" into the city and continuing their "rampant legacy of corruption", mayor Herman Mashaba said yesterday.

He said the city had been given notice of the ANC’s most recent tactic for undermining the will of residents and forcing their way into the city by challenging the Integrated Development Plan for the 2017/18 financial.

This followed the recent ANC’s motion of no confidence which Mashaba says was nothing more than another baseless attempt to "enrich themselves at the expense of residents".

Ramaphosa says it’s do or die at the ANC conference

The ANC's much anticipated elective conference taking place in two weeks is a golden opportunity for the party to return to its golden days, said presidential hopeful Cyril Ramaphosa.

Speaking at a send-off rally in Soshanguve yesterday organised by ANC branches in Tshwane, the party's outgoing deputy president said this conference was a critical gathering for the 105-year-old liberation movement.

Ramaphosa and NEC member Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma are the front runners to replace President Jacob Zuma when he steps down as the president of the party.

Zuma jetting off to Ivory Coast for AU-EU summit

President Jacob Zuma is jetting off to the Ivory Coast this week to attend the Fifth AU-EU summit.

Zuma's visit starts tomorrow, and he will attend the summit on Wednesday and Thursday which is themed "Harnessing the Demographic Dividend through Investments in Youth".

The Presidency said the summit is anticipated to focus on the importance of the youth in the two regions’ socio-economic development programmes.

Delegates would also work on the objectives of the AU's "Agenda 2063", and some of its flagship projects.
