Patricia de Lille announces new political party

Former Cape Town mayor and DA member Patricia de Lille says she is ready to serve her country under a new political movement.

Briefing the media on Sunday in Cape Town she said it was time for a new political party to emerge in South Africa and added that she will contest the 2019 elections in all the provinces.

The former Cape Town mayor announced her resignation from the DA on November 1. Details of her new party will be revealed in two weeks and officially launched in January.

DA calls for a full scale investigation on Bosasa saga

DA leader Mmusi Maimane says he will be writing to President Cyril Ramaphosa to request that he appoints an independent inquiry to fully investigate the Bosasa scandal, which involves the President and his family.

On Saturday Ramaphosa's campaign team said it would pay back the R500 000 Bosasa donation that was given to his 2017 ANC presidential campaign.

Maimane said the inquiry should be headed by a retired judge to be selected by the Chief Justice.

Maimane argued that president Ramaphosa has appointed independent inquiries to investigate corruption elsewhere and added that the same standard must apply to him and his family.

Mabuza says he will do anything to save the soul of the ANC

ANC deputy president David Mabuza has called for a ceasefire within the liberation movement, pleading with members to stop fighting each other and focus on the party's goals instead.

Mabuza's comments come as tensions continue within the structures of the ANC.

He said he was prepared to sacrifice anything for the sake of the life of the ANC.

He was speaking on the sidelines of a Thuma Mina campaign event he was leading in the community of Mkhondo, in Piet Retief, yesterday.
