Ousted Hawks boss Major-General Berning Ntlemeza will apply in the High Court in Pretoria today to interdict the Minister of Police, Fikile Mbalula.

Ntlemeza’s latest legal bid is seeking to interdict Mbalula from preventing him from continuing with his duties pending the outcome of his appeal against the ruling by the High Court in Pretoria.

In March, the court found that then police minister Nathi Nhleko had ignored two court judgments, which found that Ntlemeza lacked integrity and honesty, when he appointed him head of the elite police unit.

 

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe's top aide and government minister has shrugged off charges that he is working with Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema to topple the Zanu-PF strongman.

State media on Sunday alleged that Saviour Kasukuwere, the Zanu-PF political commissar, who doubled as the local government minister, was plotting with Malema to stage a coup against 93 year old Mugabe.

Mugabe was currently battling factionalism within the ruling party, as the race to succeed him got murky.

 

Opposition parties took a dim view of President Jacob Zuma's decision not to address the community of Vuwani on Sunday.

Residents in the area had been up in arms after the Municipal Demarcation Board moved Vuwani and surrounding areas into the Lim 345 municipality.

Democratic Alliance MP and spokesperson on Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Kevin Mileham, said that Zuma "once again evaded accountability" when he refused to address the Vuwani residents.
