Making headlines: Trollip replacement panic rocks Nelson Mandela Bay, Zuma receives summons to appear in court And, no time frame on when De Lille hearing will resume

Trollip replacement panic rocks Nelson Mandela Bay

Jitters around the EFF have left the ruling party reluctant to field its own mayoral candidate in the bitter battle for control of the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro.

Instead, the ANC's national executive committee has opted to support a mayoral candidate from one of the smaller opposition parties in the council.

Sources who attended the NEC meeting in Cape Town over the weekend and provincial leaders in the Eastern Cape, have confirmed that the party has no intentions of governing the city for now.

The sources added that the ANC fear being "held ransom" and being "dictated" to by the EFF too close to the 2019 national elections.

Zuma receives summons to appear in court

Former president Jacob Zuma's lawyer Micheal Hulley has confirmed that he has received a summons for his client to appear in the Durban High Court on April 6.

Hulley said his team was preparing an application to review the NDPP's decision to prosecute.

The summons is related to corruption charges against the former president.

No time frame on when De Lille hearing will resume

While the DA wants to resume its disciplinary hearing against Cape Town Mayor Patricia de Lille soon, there are no time frames for the length of time it will take to reconstitute a full panel, DA federal council chairperson James Selfe said yesterday.

The panel lost a member last week when Pogiso Monchusi recused himself after De Lille's legal team presented arguments to have him and Sheila Camerer removed.
