Nzimande re-elected SACP General Secretary

The SACP has given Blade Nzimande a mandate to continue leading the vanguard.

He was nominated unopposed at the party’s fourteenth congress currently underway in Boksburg.

The party held its nomination processes yesterday evening, where Nzimande received ten nominations, including one from the Young Communist League.

The general secretary had indicated that he would be available to continue to lead after being at the helm for 19 years.

Sudan's Bashir suspends sanctions talks with US

Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir has issued a decree freezing the work of a committee formed with the United States to negotiate sanctions relief until October 12, state news agency said yesterday.

The United States on Tuesday postponed for three months a decision on whether to permanently lift sanctions on Sudan over its human rights record and other issues.

And, EFF considers disciplinary steps against its Mogale City Councillors

The EFF in the Mogale City council is considering disciplinary proceedings against its councillors who voted with the ANC to adopt the municipality's budget on Tuesday.

Party spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi said in a statement yesterday that this it was the highest form of defiance of the revolutionary tenants of the Economic Freedom Fighters.

The party was waiting for a formal report before instituting disciplinary proceedings against the nine councillors.
