WCape ANC slams DA over water crisis management

The ANC in the Western Cape has hit out at the DA over what it said was its "political chest-thumbing" over the province's recent rainfall which has helped alleviate the prolonged drought situation.

In a statement today, the ANC commended "the people of Western Cape for their great resilience under a heavy yoke of severe water restriction over the last year.

ANC provincial secretary Faiez Jacobs said the ANC therefore rejoices with the people for much needed rainfall over the last few weeks which have significantly increased the province's water dams.

The ANC cautioned the City and Province not to lose a sense of urgency on water augmentation projects due to the new rainfalls.

DA slams De Lille after review of Steenhuisen report postponed

The DA has slammed Patricia de Lille for what it claims were "untruths" following the postponement of her application to review an internal party report into her conduct.

De Lille wanted to ask the court yesterday to compel the DA to submit evidence used in formulating the report, which was compiled by a party subcommittee chaired by DA chief whip John Steenhuisen.

The matter has now been postponed to November 1 after it was placed on the opposed roll.

DA deputy federal council chairperson Natasha Mazzone said De Lille was provided with a copy of the Steenhuisen report in December, and that the DA was protecting the names of whistleblowers.

Public hearings into land expropriation continue in Limpopo

Public hearings into expropriation of land without compensation continue today in Tzaneen in Limpopo.

A statement from Vincent Smith, the co-chairperson of the joint Constitutional Review Committee looking into the possible review of section 25 of the Constitution, said the latest round of public hearings will take place in Tzaneen's Marble Hall.

Public hearings have already taken place in other parts of Limpopo as well as the Northern Cape this week.
