Details of Bosasa's 'empire of bribes' to be exposed at Zondo commission

A former top boss of corruption-accused facilities management company Bosasa will deliver bombshell testimony before the State capture commission of inquiry this week.

Ex-Bosasa chief operations officer Angelo Agrizzi will give evidence before the commission and is expected to outline corrupt activities the company and its directors engaged in over more than a decade to secure multi-million government contracts – and to stay out of jail.

Agrizzi’s testimony is set to implicate former President Jacob Zuma, National Prosecuting Authority officials, senior government officials and ministers.

Ramaphosa says government will not allow land grabs

President Cyril Ramaphosa today said that the South African government would forge ahead with the policy of expropriating land without compensation, but said that wholesale expropriation and illegal land grabs would not be allowed.

Ramaphosa was speaking at a breakfast meeting with TeamSA as he prepares to lead a delegation of government, business and labour leaders to the World Economic Forum taking place in Davos, Switzerland, next week.

He said government will not depart from using the clear prescripts as outlined in the Constitution, allaying fears of land grabs.

Kenyan forces kill all militants who stormed Nairobi hotel

Kenya's president said early on Wednesday that security forces had killed all four militants who stormed an upscale hotel complex in Nairobi the previous day, in an attack that killed at least 14 people.

Uhuru Kenyatta said 14 civilians were confirmed dead and over 700 others had been safely evacuated.

The attack on the dusitD2 hotel began shortly after 3pm on Tuesday with an explosion in the parking lot and then a suicide bomb blast in the foyer, police said.

Somali militant Islamist group al Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack.
