PIC board still in place for now

The board of the Public Investment Corporation will remain in place until Finance Minister Tito Mboweni appoints new directors, the government-owned asset manager said today.

The statement from the PIC followed the board members writing to Mboweni last week asking to be relieved of their duties.

Giving their reasons for relief, the board wrote to Mboweni and cited the destabilising impact of "events in the recent past", including allegations of impropriety levelled against at least four directors.

 

Maimane claims Bosasa ready to disclose contracts with Ramaphosa's son

DA leader Mmusi Maimane today said the chairperson of African Global Operations, the company formerly known as Bosasa, has told him in writing that it has asked President Cyril Ramaphosa's son, Andile, for permission to publish the contracts it holds with two of his companies.

Maimane said Joe Gumede signalled readiness to disclose the contracts between the company and Blue Crane and Offtake.

The DA has filed an application in terms of the Promotion of Access to Information Act to see these contracts.

Maimane urged Andile Ramaphosa to disclose the agreements.

 

IFP says Ramaphosa was part of ‘nine wasted years'

The Inkatha Freedom Party published a scathing open letter to President Cyril Ramaphosa, criticising him for being "in the belly of the beast which was the [Jacob] Zuma administration".

Ramaphosa has said publically that the nine years under Zuma were lost years for the country

In a statement Mkhuleko Hlengwa, IFP national spokesperson said it was a shock that Ramaphosa distanced himself from Zuma’s administration and added that he was part of the 'nine wasted years'.

Hlengwa accused Ramaphosa of being the "right-hand man" of Zuma.
