The committee tasked with finding a replacement for Public Protector Thuli Madonsela is expected to meet for the last time today.

The committee was due to finalise and adopt its report, which recommended Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane to fill Madonsela's shoes when her term ends in October.

The committee will then table the report to the National Assembly before it is considered on September 7, according to the parliamentary programme.

Many ANC members are breaking rank and publicly voicing their dissatisfaction with their leaders following the party's loss of support in the municipal elections said a member of the ANC Johannesburg's inner city branch, Sasa Manganye.

Mangaye said the party first needed to get rid of President Jacob Zuma.

“Zuma and those leaders who don't care about the organisation must go,” he said.

The ANC in the Western Cape has resolved that disciplinary procedures against chairperson Marius Fransman must be expedited.

Further, the party now wanted Fransman suspended pending the outcome of the disciplinary process.

Fransman was asked to step aside after he was accused of sexually harassing 21-year-old Louisa Wynand while they were travelling to the party's January 8 celebrations in Rustenburg.
