SACP wants judicial commission into State capture to start its work

South African Communist Party general secretary Blade Nzimande says that, in the face of numerous email leaks showing unabated looting of public resources, the independent judicial commission agreed to by the ANC, is taking too long to get on with its job.

He said the SACP was concerned that everybody agreed on the commission, including the President Jacob Zuma adding that they will discuss with the ANC to ascertain how far the establishment of the judicial commission was.

Nzimande reiterated the SACP’s call for an independent Judicial Commission of Inquiry, based on the Public Protector’s report into State capture.

 

Ramaphosa tells Hawks not to wait for inquiries before investigating State capture suspects

Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa says commissions of inquiry into State capture should not stop law enforcement agencies from investigating the culprits in the meantime.

Addressing hundreds at a Congress of South African Trade Unions rally in Seshego outside Polokwane yesterday, Ramaphosa said the Hawks must investigate State capture.

He said parliamentarians were also concerned that allegations of Sstate capture were lingering against the ruling party.

 

Moerane Commission is set to continue

The Moerane Commission which is investigating a high number of political murders which has plagued KwaZulu-Natal in recent years, is expected to continue today.

Last week, the commission heard that the death of councillor Mcebisi Duma in 2011 could have been prevented.

The Moerane Commission, chaired by advocate Marumo Moerane, was established in October 2016 to investigate the high number of political killings in the province since 2011.
