The ANC's Tshwane chairperson, Kgosientso Ramokgopa, says running a Tshwane where the ANC has control of the majority of wards, will be a challenge for the alliance of political parties voting with the DA.

Ramokgopa's statements came as the party prepared itself to be the official opposition in the municipality.

He pointed out that despite the ANC not being in control in the council, the party had control of the majority of the wards in the region.

 

The ANC Youth League has hit out at party secretary general Gwede Mantashe after he recently made statements that it would be easier for some in the party to resign than for them to be asked to leave.

ANCYL secretary general Njabulo Nzuza said the league did not support the call made by Mantashe of people resigning.

The ANCYL also called for the expulsion of all corrupt cadres in the party.

 

The ANC Youth League warned that the disruption of the Nelson Mandela Bay metro’s first council meeting was merely the beginning.

The ANC had threatened to seek a court interdict to stop the meeting and its councillors walked out. DA's Athol Trollip was elected as mayor.

In his inaugural address, Trollip vowed to stop corruption and promised to ensure that all council employees had the right qualifications for the job.
