Ramaphosa 'launches' campaign with attack on Zuma, Guptas
Mbalula says ANC must overhaul its system to reduce 'factory faults'
And, DA to lead picket outside Hawks HQ over Ntlemeza

Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa has launched a stinging attack on President Jacob Zuma and the Gupta family in a speech that was interpreted as the unofficial launch of his campaign for the ANC's presidency.

Speaking at the South African Communist Party’s Chris Hani Memorial Lecture at the Babs Madlakane Hall in KwaNobuhle, near Uitenhage, Ramaphosa has called on the ANC to address the challenges it is facing, or continue to lose support among its members, and potentially lose control of the country in upcoming elections.

The hall was packed to capacity, along with a tent outside where a further 500 members of the public had gathered for the commemorations.

The ANC from time to time has produced "factory faults", which can be successfully addressed through the revolutionary council, says the head of the party’s subcommittee on organisational renewal Fikile Mbalula.

He was discussing the organisational renewal chapter of the ANC’s policy documents with journalists yesterday, ahead of the party’s fifth national policy conference in June.

The document says the erosion of the character and capacity of the movement and the hollowing of out of the capacity of the democratic state must be reversed urgently.

The DA will today lead a picket outside the Hawks headquarters in Pretoria after dismissed Hawks boss Berning Ntlemeza indicated that he will return to work.

DA MP Zakhele Mbhele said that Police Minister Fikile Mbalula could and should use his power in terms of the SAPS Act, and suspend Ntlemeza.

Ntlemeza approached the Supreme Court of Appeal this week to challenge the judgment that found his appointment invalid.
