ANC leaders to receive body of struggle icon Winnie Madikizela-Mandela

Leaders of the ruling ANC, led by Deputy President David Mabuza, will be at the house of Winnie Madikizela-Mandela today, where they will receive her body.

The struggle stalwart died on Easter Monday at the age of 81.

In a statement issued by party national spokesperson, Pule Mabe, the ANC said its leaders will accompany the bereaved family to the mortuary in the afternoon.

Madikizela-Mandela’s family announced a guard of honour for her when her body makes its way from the Kupane Funeral Parlour to her home in Orlando West.

Zim leader Mnangagwa says no to presidential debate

Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa's spokesperson has reportedly said that the veteran politician would not be drawn into a public presidential  debate with his rival Nelson Chamisa ahead of a crunch election this year.

Presidential spokesperson George Charamba said that a televised presidential debate between the two leading contestants was unlikely as his boss would not entertain such an idea.

Chamisa last month challenged Mnangagwa to a presidential debate, claiming he would expose the president's lack of appreciation for critical issues.

EFF says Zondo must reconsider Nombembe appointment

The EFF has asked Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo to reconsider his decision to appoint Terence Nombembe as the lead investigator in the commission of inquiry into State capture, which Zondo chairs.

EFF released a statement yesterday, a few hours after Zondo dismissed the party’s objection to Nombembe's appointment.

EFF spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi said the objection to Nombembe's appointment was based on the links he had to several key individuals who are alleged to have played a role in State capture.
