Former Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (or PRASA) board members are heading to the High Court in Pretoria today to have the board's dissolution set aside.

Former PRASA board chairperson Popo Molefe filed an urgent application for the court to declare the board's dissolution unlawful, reinstate the board members to their former positions, and prevent an interim board from being appointed.

Meanwhile ousted acting group CEO Collins Letsoalo has asked to join the application as a respondent. He said the board had made false allegations in the founding affidavit which seek to tarnish his reputation.

The death toll from a landslide at a rubbish dump in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa has reached 113, with the government declaring three days of national mourning.

Flags flew at half mast to mark the disaster that occurred at the 50-year-old Reppi dump on Saturday evening. It is the capital’s only dump.

Ethiopia is developing rapidly but plenty of people remain marginalized and forced to seek a living in such conditions. In October, the government imposed a national state of emergency after more than 500 people were killed in protests in the Oromiya region where opposition to a development scheme sparked broader anti-government demonstrations.

President Jacob Zuma will today field questions on Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini and former Eskom CEO Brian Molefe in his first question-and-answer session in Parliament this year.

Zuma has not appeared in the National Assembly since the three days of fiery debate and replies on his State of the Nation address in February, either.

Proceedings will begin at 14:00.
