The ANC Youth league in KwaZulu-Natal has announced that they will support a move to vote controversial SABC Corporate Affairs Head Hlaudi Motsoeneng to the party’s National Executive Committee at the elective conference in 2017.

Motsoeneng is expected to deliver a guest address at an ANCYL KZN lecture on economic freedom.

Thinta Cibane, the ANCYL secretary general in the eThekwini region, said that the provincial structure would support the elevation of Motsoeneng to the NEC.

 

At least 12 Zimbabwean political parties have met at Stellenbosch University to discuss how they will compete in the 2018 elections.

The main opposition, the Movement for Democratic Party , however, did not take part in the discussions.

Talks of opposition parties forming a coalition ahead of the 2018 elections have been on the rise, mainly after the MDC leader, Morgan Tsvangirai, and former vice-president and Zimbabwe People First leader, Joice Mujuru made the announcement in August.

 

President Jacob Zuma has sold out Fidel Castro and has no right to be paying tribute to the Cuban revolutionary, EFF leader Julius Malema said yesterday.

He spoke at length about the ideals Castro represented which he wanted the EFF to emulate. These included Castro’s approach to education, health care, and land.

He criticised the ANC for abandoning Castro’s ideals.

Castro had warned leaders like former president Nelson Mandela and the ANC that they would struggle with the Afrikaners over the Freedom Charter.
