Leaders of opposition parties are meeting today in Johannesburg to discuss their next course of action to oppose the removal of Pravin Gordhan as finance minister by President Jacob Zuma in his latest Cabinet reshuffle.

The Leaders will discuss the Motion of No Confidence and the possibility of joint mass action.

The meeting will take place at Marks Park Sports Club, Emmarentia, in Johannesburg.

President Jacob Zuma has appointed Advocate Thandi Norman SC, Advocate Thabani Masuku and Sifiso Msomi as members of the Judicial Service Commission.

The Presidency said Zuma made the appointments in terms of the Constitution after consulting leaders of parties represented in Parliament.

National assembly speaker, Baleka Mbete, yesterday said President Jacob Zuma did not need to consult anyone about a cabinet reshuffle.

She said there was no ANC process that required the president to have a conference with members.

Mbete said yesterday that Zuma had called her on Thursday and told her what was going to be announced, but did not mention any detail.

She was briefing the media after cutting short her work visit to Bangladesh to address requests she received to urgently convene a sitting to process yet another proposal for a motion of no confidence against President Jacob Zuma.
