DA to picket at SABC for Motsoeneng to be axed

27th June 2016

Tomorrow, Tuesday 28 June 2016, DA Leader, Mmusi Maimane MP, will lead a picket outside the SABC Headquarters to call for the removal of SABC COO, Hlaudi Motsoeneng, and an end to the undemocratic censorship which we have witnessed during his tenure.

Mr Motsoeneng has, throughout his tenure at the SABC, proven that he is not a fit and proper person to hold this position. He has demonstrated his unsuitability and the latest resignation of Acting Group CEO, Jimmi Matthews, citing the “corrosive atmosphere” is evidence that he needs to go at once.

Mr Motsoeneng has seen the disintegration of the SABC and has consistently and without due regard for the law attempted to capture the public broadcaster to protect the ANC and President Zuma.

Maimane will be joined by DA Gauteng Provincial Leader, John Moodey MPL, DA Shadow Minister of Communications and National Spokesperson, Phumzile Van Damme MP, and DA National Spokesperson, Refiloe Nt’sekhe MPL.

The picket will take place as follows:

Date: Tuesday, 28 June 2016
Time: 12h30
Picket location: Entrance 2 of SABC Park on Henley Road, Auckland Park
Coordinates: 26°11'08.0"S   28°00'35.6"E

There will be an opportunity for photographs and interviews.
