DA to lay corruption charges against Arthur Fraser and his family

13th November 2017

Tomorrow, 1 August 2017, the DA’s Chief Whip, John Steenhuisen MP, will lay corruption charges against State Security Agency (SSA) Director-General, Arthur Fraser, and members of his family in terms of the Prevention and Combatting of Corrupt Activities Act.

The allegations against Fraser and his family, as detailed most recently in Jacques Pauw’s The President’s Keepers, relate to the period 2007 to 2009 when the then-Deputy Director-General: Operations of the National Intelligence Agency initiated and oversaw the Principle Agent Network (PAN) programme.

An internal SSA investigation into the PAN programme reportedly found wide-scale financial mismanagement, fruitless expenditure, nepotism and corruption amounting to tens of millions of rands.

Members of the media are invited as follows:

Date: Tuesday, 14 November 2017

Time: 10:00

Location: Cape Town Police Station, Buitenkant Street.

There will be an opportunity for interviews and photographs
