DA NW: DA Congratulates our North West sport stars

The Democratic Alliance in North West conveys heartfelt congratulations to our home-grown sport stars who have excelled this week.

Sunette Viljoen, a Springbok athlete from Rustenburg, won bronze in the women's javelin final at the 15th IAAF World Championships at the National Stadium in Beijing, China, and must be heartily congratulated.

We are proud of every resident in the Platinum Province who achieves success after hard work and committed training.

The North West netball team also excelled this weekend and made a clean sweep at the SPAR National Netball Championships at the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre on Saturday, taking gold in all four sections, making us very proud to be North Westers.

The North West team showed tremendous depth as they walked away gold medals in the A and B sections in both the senior and the Under-21 competitions.

In the senior A-section final, North West turned the tables on Gauteng, who won the 2014 title, by beating them, 28-14.

The Democratic Alliance believes that sport unites a nation, as was shown in 1995 when President Nelson Mandela so strongly supported the Springboks, and with his support ultimately won the Rugby World Cup.
