DA: Mlindi Nhanha says DA condemns senseless killing of DA activist in NMB

The Democratic Alliance in the Eastern Cape has learnt with shock the sad news of the horrific killing of Norman Plaatjies, a well-known DA activist.

Norman’s killing came just few days after the Executive Mayor of Nelson Mandela Bay, Athol Trollip, raised an alarm about death threats received by two DA councillors in the municipality.

The Provincial Leader, Nqaba Bhanga, and Executive Mayor, Athol Trollip, visited the Plaatjies family over the weekend to pay their respects and support the family during these trying times.

We strongly condemn this act of criminality with the contempt it deserves and we call on the South African Police Service (SAPS) to do everything in their power to bring the culprits of this heinous crime to justice as soon as possible.

We further wish to call on the SAPS to act more decisively against the increasing crime in the Eastern Cape.

Our sincere condolences go out to the Plaatjies family. You are in our thoughts during this most difficult time.
