DA: Kagiso Mangwejane failed ANC in Tswaing, has abandoned the people

The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Tswaing will write to Mayor Dimakatso Malwane to hold her accountable for the lack of service delivery in Tswaing. While ANC councillors are busy with internal political battles it is the people who continue to suffer without basic services such as water and electricity.

Just last week, the community of Matshelapat suffered for four days without water and electricity, there is no refuse removal taking place and the infrastructure in the town is old and dilapidated.

On Monday 10 September 2018, the ANC caucus petitioned for a motion of no confidence against the Council Speaker and the Mayoral committee, but this failed as a result of two ANC councillors withdrawing from supporting this motion.

The DA was reliably informed that the ANC will once again be meeting and a national member of the party will be deployed to Tswaing to intervene in the situation.

This action, and the raging political battles and instability, has resulted in bad governance and a negligence of administrative roles that are even spreading to some municipal officials who are members of South African Municipal Workers’ Union (SAMWU).

Leadership has deteriorated to such an extent that the public has lost all trust in Tswaing Municipality’s capability to bring services.

This once again proves that the ANC is no longer interested in issues of service delivery and dealing with challenges and the plight that communities face instead they are interested in prioritising their own political survival.

It is clear that Tswaing needs a government that will bring about change and deliver basic services to the residents in the area, only a DA-led government can ensure this and build one South Africa for all.
