DA: Joe McGluwa: Address by North West Provincial Leader, welcoming EFF Members to the DA, Potchefstroom (16/07/2015)

Dear Democrats, Members of the media, Ladies and Gentlemen.

Today welcome 3 former EFF members to the ranks of the Democratic Alliance.  The DA blue wave is growing around South Africa and we are here to show that more and more people are turning to the DA as their political home.

Today we literally convert red into blue. I am convinced that, after a few meetings and consultation sessions, that these new DA members have joined to be part of our national project to govern South Africa, and to govern Tlokwe. As we speak our DA members are going door- to - door, to speak to people in Tlokwe and the response is clear: they are ready to give the DA the mandate to govern this Municipality.

Like Romeo Matjila, Lebo Selogiloe and and Sam Makobane, who never voted DA before, people around South Africa today feel free to join us in our mission. We want every voter in this Province who is listening to us to know that the DA is a party for all.

The people of Tlokwe only have one choice in 2016:

A choice to vote for a party that has failed to create jobs, and who are taking money from the poor, who are maladministering this town, and who are using the municipality as a cash machine, or on the other hand:

To vote for the DA – A Party that has a track record of excellent, clean governance and who brought positive change while we were governing Tlokwe for 7 months a short while ago.

The DA will not be stopped by Minister Pravin Gordan’s attempts to redraw Tlokwe's boundaries and to prevent the DA from gaining a majority in Potchefstroom during the 2016 elections.

Ventersdorp Municipality has been stripped by the ruling Party. Their collection rate is almost non-existent and they are virtually bankrupt with no cash reserves with an outstanding debt of R40 million.

The DA will therefore be opposing this move through everyand all legal means.

We will do this so that we can work hard in Tlokwe to expand opportunities, grow the economy, fix the schools for our children, and to stop corruption.

Again thank you to the former EFF members who have chosen the DA as your political home.
