Today, Mpumalanga Premier, David Mabuza delivered what is believed to be his final State of the Province Address and as expected, he said nothing to address the true state of Mpumalanga.

Premier Mabuza chose to ignore critical issues facing the province and instead gave a summary of his few achievements while in office, as if to leave behind some form of legacy.

The premier notably stated that the time for the payment of contractors would be reduced from 30 days to 10 days. While this would be ideal, but the reality is that most departments do not pay contractors within the stipulated 30 days which in some cases results in litigation and the suffocation of small businesses.

Premier Mabuza’s speech has made it clear that he was never interested in uplifting Mpumalanga and its citizens. To him, the province was merely a stepping stone to higher office.

It is officials such as Premier Mabuza who highlight the fact that the province and the country have an ANC problem that can only be resolved through a total change in government.

Only under a DA-led government will the people of Mpumalanga be freed from corruption, hopelessness and joblessness. The people of Mpumalanga need a Total Change in government, where they always come first.
