While there remains considerable confusion over the actual status of Marius Fransman in the ANC, indicative of the internal mess in which the party finds itself today, one thing is clear for all to see: Jacob Zuma supports and endorses a criminally accused man to be leader of the ANC in the Western Cape.

This endorsement must be seen for what it is: a condemnable insult to all the people of the Western Cape, and in particular the many women who continue to face sexual abuse, patriarchy and sexism in our communities.

The bottom line is that Jacob Zuma doesn’t care about the people of the Western Cape, nor does he care about the high levels of sexual abuse and discrimination which continue to be perpetrated across South Africa.

His first and only priority is to ensure that his friends are put in top positions to protect him from being held accountable for his failure to stop corruption and create jobs.

The DA urges South Africans to say “NO” to this Zuma-Fransman criminally accused alliance, and to reject outright the ANC’s tacit endorsement of sexual abuse.

On 3 August, South Africans can vote DA for CHANGE that will create jobs, provide honest government, deliver better services, and stop corruption. This is the change that our country needs to move forward again.
