The Democratic Alliance in the Northern Cape expresses our deep sorrow at the passing of Councillor Shadrack “Shado” Moreeng. Councillor Moreeng was elected to serve the people of ward 7 in the Gamagara Local Municipality in the 2016 local government elections.

Councillor Moreeng was an enthusiastic, optimistic person. You never left his company feeling sad or pessimistic. He had a passion for the development of the youth in his community and whenever someone had a problem, they knew they could come to Shado for help.

Because of his spirit of entrepreneurship, councillor Moreeng served on the Finance Committee of the Gamagara Local Municipality and was chosen as the leader of the caucus of the Democratic Alliance. His active participation in the council will be dearly missed.
