DA congratulates Prof Binu Luke – recipient of the Ken Huddle Clinical Role Model Award

The DA in North West congratulates Professor Binu Luke for receiving the Ken Huddle Clinical Role Model Award from the University of the Witwatersrand.

The Ken Huddle Role Model Award is extended in recognition of academic staff who serve as role models for medical students and junior doctors. Only consultant physicians in full-time academic practice in the Department of Internal Medicine are eligible for this award.

The DA recognizes the outstanding work Professor Luke renders to North West residents under extremely difficult circumstances. North West public health facilities suffer from equipment, medicine and staff shortages, budget constraints and are under immense strain due to increased demand. These are just some of the challenges medical professionals face in North West public health facilities.

Professor Luke played a leading role in North West during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic. His commitment and dedication to healthcare resulted in thousands of lives being saved, while ANC politicians and deployed cadres lined their pockets with Covid-19 emergency funds.

On behalf of the residents of the North West, we thank Professor Luke for his service and wish him every success in the future.
