DA: Carina Serfontein says Ngwathe Traffic Department still without computers six months after burglary

Six months after the computers of the Ngwathe Traffic Department were stolen during a burglary at their offices in Koppies, the computers have not been replaced.

This means that the employees of the Department at this office cannot do their work on a daily basis and are effectively paid a salary to do nothing.

Not only is this a waste of money but it is causing great inconvenience to the residents as they now have to travel to other towns such as Parys, Sasolburg, Heilbron and Kroonstad to renew their licenses.

The Free State MEC for Police, Roads and Transport, Sam Mashinini has been informed about this situation on two occasions, the last being on 18 April 2018. The fact that nothing has been done about this suggests that he is oblivious to this situation.

The DA will now report this failure to the Premier, Sisi Ntombela, in the hope that eventually something will be done. It is simply unacceptable that our people are expected to pay for non-existent services.

The people of the Free State need change, in all the spheres of government in this province - change, that only the DA can provide.
