The Congress of South African Trade Unions in the Northern Cape together with all our affiliates pledge our support to POPCRU on their march to be held in Kimberley on Thursday, 30 July 2016. The ongoing blatant undermining of the police officers, correctional officers and traffic officers by some senior managers who are law unto themselves cannot be left unchallenged.

We call on all the workers and members of our communities to join the march in Kimberley at 09h00 tomorrow, starting at the Kemo Hotel. We are satisfied that the demands made by our affiliate are genuine and need urgent attention if the government is serious about the safety of our citizens.

It is in the interest of the working class communities to have all the officers working in conditions conducive for them to deliver the essential services that they do. They all risk their lives in their attempts to protest our communities but the employer makes their conditions of work unbearable.

We further call on the workers and the people of our province to prepare themselves to support the national march that will follow on 14 July 2016. We call on all the workers to be united behind the struggles of these workers.
