COSATU Eastern Cape to hold a march on 06 July 2023 as part of COSATU’s National Day of Action

The Congress of South African Trade Unions(COSATU) in the Eastern Cape will be embarking on a march on 06 July 2023 as part of COSATU’s National Day of Action to hand over the memorandum containing demands that are addressed to some government departments and institution, as well as the private sector.

COSATU’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) took a decision to hold a National Day of Action and is putting forward the following key demands:

Stop the attack on collective bargaining in all sectors.

Prevent crime and corruption.

Reduce interest rates.

Stop job losses and privatization.

Address high unemployment/create decent jobs.

Speedy implementation of Zondo Commission recommendations.

We are currently on the ground with Alliance components, mobilizing workers, communities and other organs of civil society to ensure success on the day of action.

Every worker, even those outside of the fold of COSATU, including those who are not unionised are protected in terms of the Section 77 certificate received from NEDLAC.

All workers and communities are encouraged to participate. The details of the march are as follows:

Assembly Point: Nangoza Jebe Hall, New Brighton, Gqeberha

Time:  09h00

Handing over of memorandum:  Vuyisile Mini Square (Gqeberha) 

Time:   13h00

As long as these challenges confronting workers and communities exist, we have an obligation to wage a relentless struggle to have them addressed. We should spare no zeal, vigour, nor courage in pursuing this noble cause.

A working class united shall never be defeated!
