The alleged barbaric actions by warders at the Groenpunt Prison towards Journalists of the Star and Sowetan newspapers on Tuesday must be condemned.

The incident is a reminder of the apartheid government’s evil tactics and must never be allowed in a democratic South Africa.

The National Police Commissioner must apologise to the journalists and media companies respectfully, and the Minister of Police must institute an investigation into this incident.
